Gresley Rovers bolster forward line

Gresley Rovers have signed former Stafford Rangers forward Jamie Sleigh.

Sleigh most notably made his name at United Counties League side Heanor Town, where he scored a remarkable 147 goals in 174 appearances.

That tally left him just seven goals behind the Lions' all-time record goalscorer, Kieran Debrouwer.

Sleigh enjoyed a two-year stint at Northern Premier League side Stafford Rangers before leaving in August 2021 to return to Heanor.

His arrival will be a welcome boost for the Moatmen, whose 2022/23 tally of 34 goals in 38 league matches was the third-lowest of any side in the Pitching In NPL Midlands Division.

Sleigh will link up with his new team-mates when they return for pre-season training next week.

He also becomes the club's second signing in as many days, with former Belper Town defender Jayden Cotterill also making the move to the Moat Ground.
