Warrington Town's community coaches are celebrating the record-breaking numbers of youngsters who attended their latest school holiday football camps.

During last week's half-term break, more than 60 children per day took part in a range of sporting activities including football, baseball, basketball, cricket and handball at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's Cantilever Park.

Organised by the Wire's Community Development Officer James Standing and supported by club sponsors United Utilities, the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North outfit say youngsters who enjoyed the four days of fun the camps provided can look forward to eight more camps currently being planned for 2013.

The Wire are delighted with the record numbers who took advantage of their ongoing programme to provide a healthy and friendly sporting environment for children as young as four to get involved in physical activity.

Standing, who's now planning their fast approaching Easter camps, said: "This was our most successful camp yet and with the amount of positive feedback we have received, it looks like we are about to get bigger in April!

"The kids were great throughout the whole week. We had a few inter-club competitions with a number of players from Warrington Town, Appleton Boys, Woolston Rover and Eagle in attendance along with a few from other sports clubs across the town."

On the final day of the camp youngsters were awarded certificates, water bottles and junior season tickets for the Wire. The prizes were handed out by Standing and a special guest of honour, Gully Mouse, the mascot at nearby Gulliver’s World, pictured.

Standing added: "It was great to have Gully down as he spent the whole day with the kids and it all adds to the experience and atmosphere.”

* Warrington's next camp takes place in just five weeks time when local primary schools take a break for Easter. Week one will run from Tuesday 2 April to Friday 5 April with the second camp running from Monday 8 April to Friday 12 April. Prices are set at just £30 for the full four days or £9 per day with sessions taking place on the club's artificial 3G pitches.
