Keeper's cup goal goes viral

If EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Spennymoor Town keeper Dan Lowson has ever dreamed of worldwide fame he's achieved it now after his goal from deep in his own half in the Emirates FA Cup.

In his 50th appearance for the Moors, the Moors keeper hit a stunning 80-yard free-kick against Radcliffe Borough to kick start his side's 5-3 win in the Cup's First Qualifying Round.

Footage of Lowson's proving the magic of the cup is still very much alive at Stainton Park went viral on the net within hours with than 50,000 views on news and sports websites from the The Sun to The Guardian, talkSPORT and The Irish Independent.

Lowson, who celebrated his screamer after after the match by taking to social media, tweeted: “Delighted t make my 50th app for @SpennymoorTown topped of with a 80yrd goal to make ita memorable 1. In hat for nxt round.zinng!!!! #moors”

The former Luton Town, Ilkeston, Blyth Spartans and Alfreton Town keeper has the chance to repeat his feat at The Brewery Field in the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after the Moors drew EVO-STIK NPL top flight rivals Whitby Town in Monday's draw for the Second Qualifying Round.

Lowson's wasn't not the only wonder-goal from a keeper on Non League Day 2016. In the National League South Dartford stopper Deren Ibrahim lashed the ball home from a more modest distance of around 70 yards to help his side to a 2-0 win over Hungerford Town.

To see the stopper launch the ball from inside his own area only for the bounce to catch out his opposite number and lob him to find the back of the net, click here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k5a5BXdGuY.
