Captured on camera for a congratulatory tweet by the Blues after they bounced back into the EVO-STIK League South play-off zone with an emphatic 4-0 win, Congleton-based Ashford is a life-long Chester City fan who started watching the club in 1996 before taking over managing the extensive kit room.
@leektown tweeted: "A good result today on the pitch - but we can’t let it pass without mention of “Kitman” Ken Ashford - 750 appearances for the Club!"
Along the way Ashford attended the FA’s Treatment and Management of Injuries course alongside physio Adrian Littlejon and still runs on to lend a hand when a Leek player goes down. Now retired from the NHS, he spends his time playing golf as well as dabbling in the antiques market when not at Harrison Park ensuring Neil Baker's side are properly kitted out.
In squad news, Blackpool youngster Caleb Richards is set spend the final weeks of the season with the Blues after his League One club agreed to extend the 19-year-old defender's youth loan.
