Kittrick secures services of key men

After persuading EVO-STIK League North Player of the Year Michael Coulson to pen a new thee year contract on Tuesday, the Seadogs boss snapped up former Northern Premier League winner Kevin Burgess from National League North Darlington on Thursday.

Known as a formidable defender both in the air and on the ground, the 31-year-old led from the front in the EVO-STIK League's top flight at the Quakers and Whitby Town and arrived at the Flamingo Land Stadium in search of a new challenge after terminating his contract with the Quakers earlier this week.

The hot-shot, who also collected the 'Supporters’ Player of the Year' accolade at the EVO-STIK League North runners-up, told SAFC TV it had been an easy decision to commit to his hometown club until May 2021.

Pictured collecting his accolade from Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder at the NPL's 2018 Player of the Year Awards in April, Coulson said: “I’m delighted that it’s come about. I didn’t take much persuading. I knew towards the end of last season that I wanted to stay at Scarborough."

According to Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull, the forward will also play a key role in the club’s engagement with the local community as part of the agreement. “It’s all about the sustainability and future of the football club," said Bull. "It’s showing the club’s commitment to do a great job, not just next season but for seasons to come."
