Leaders told to stay fully-focussed

Basford United are still taking nothing for granted despite facing second-from-bottom Peterborough United on Saturday in what is turning out to be a romp to the EVO-STIK League South title.

The runaway leaders are 21 points clear but manager Martin Carruthers told fans on Friday to expect a battle for prestige as well as points in the 3pm kick-off at Greenwich Avenue.

Carruthers, pictured, said: "This will be another tough game, Peterborough pushed us very hard when we went there and we had a slice of luck when they missed a penalty. Like all teams, they will be going all out to become the first to to beat us, every game is like a cup final right now and we have to rise to the occasion".

Dom Roma, James Reid, Liam Hearn, Rob Duffy and Saul Deeney are all set to return for the leaders this weekend having missed the club's 7-0 win over Kimberley in the quarter-finals of the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup. Matt Thornhill is doubtful pending a fitness test.
