Leek Town has been awarded a £500 grant by the Staffordshire Football Association to form two more girls’ teams.

The Evo-Stik NPL First Division South club already runs two successful girls teams at Under 12 and Under 15 levels and is now looking to work with schools in the Leek, Cheddleton and Endon areas to build a girls’ section which will progress through to women’s football.

The club is also contributing £400 to the project thanks to a grant from the Leek United Building Society.

Leek Town Community’s Steve Kell will coach girls coming through the schools partnership and hopes to form Under 8s and Under 10s sides.
