Loan deal secures midfielder for survival fight

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Frickley Athletic have signed Scunthorpe midfielder Luke Hornsey on a month's loan ahead of their trip to King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.

Originally a schoolboy at Scunthorpe, the 19-year-old, pictured, was handed a professional contract by the League Two promotion chasers at the end of last season and joined manager Karl Rose’s Premier Division squad on Friday.

Two-footed Hornsey is highly rated by United’s manager Russ Wilcox who’s sent him out on loan to gain more experience and game time at Westfield Lane where he’ll team up with his son, Athletic's defender Joe Wilcox.
