Loan will bring striker up to speed

The 29-year-old, pictured collecting a matchday award last season, left Kirkby Rd on Friday on a month's loan from the EVO-STIK League's top flight to regain his full fitness at the insistence of manager Jimmy Ginnelly.

The former Atherstone Town, Bedworth United, Halesowen Town, Redditch United, Shepshed Dynamo and Stratford Town forward first returned in September after being stretchered off during a pre-season friendly against Solihull Moors in July and the Canaries boss joked: “Because Luke’s a bit … brain dead he doesn’t quite realise that he’s had a big injury and a big operation! He hasn’t done anything about it, just came straight back and played football.

"We tried to let it be the case, but it’s not. You’ve got to try and get fit and you don’t get fit just by playing football. Luke Barlone’s still a big part of my plans and he’ll be here for the last four or five months of the season."

He added: “I know the Coleshill staff very well. They’ve agreed to take Luke for a month so hopefully he’ll go across there and get some minutes. Really, Luke needs to go to the gym, get fit on a bike and get his knee right before he thinks he can go out there and play Evo-Stik Premier football.”
