Millers retain county cup in some style

Carlton Town retained the Nottinghamshire Senior Cup in style on Tuesday night with a 6-2 victory over Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Rainworth Miners Welfare at Hucknall Town's Watnall Road.

The Millers had to recover from a fourth minute set-back against their First Division South rivals when Jamie Clarke scored on the rebound after Jonathon Viscosi had saved his spot-kick.

Sam MacVicar equalised four minutes later with a curling shot from the edge of the box before man-of-the-match Aaron Hooton converted from the spot after he was brought down in the area.

The Millers then swamped the Wrens in the early part of the second half to take the game out of their reach. Hooton made it 3-1 on 48 minutes and after a 10-minute delay for a floodlight failure, Anton Robinson found the net for 4-1.

By now it was all Carlton and five minutes later Robinson bagged his second for Les McJannet's side. Danny Elliott added their sixth with five minutes to go before Clarke grabbed his second and a late consolation for the Wrens.
