Mintcakes move to secure hot-shot

Striker Jordan Connerton is looking forward to firing up Kendal Town for a promotion push to the EVO-STIK Northrn Premier League's top flight after signing on contract terms.

The First Division North club say they are "delighted" to sign the hot-shot who's been in top form since returning to the Mintcakes after a spell down under in Australia playing for Melbourne’s Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club.

The 25-year-old former Crewe Alexandra player has netted 10 goals in just five games and agreed to the deal after attracting the interest of scouts from a number of senior clubs to Parkside Road.

The striker, pictured signing for manager Michael Stringfellow, said: "I am delighted to pledge my immediate future to Kendal Town. It’s great to be back here and I am enjoying my football more than ever. My appetite for the game as never been as good. The gaffer Michael [Stringfellow] is assembling a good squad at Kendal and I want to play a big part in our play off push. We are starting to hit form right now and there is a good feel about the club. Everyone is buzzing."

Kendal Town chairman Haydon Munslow said: "I am really pleased we have secured Jordan’s services. I know from talking to our supporters as I circulate the ground on match days and in the club bar [Finney’s] after the games that having a striker of Jordan’s quality in the squad is seen as a very important part of our progress."

He added: "Jordan’s endorsement and wanting to be part of what we are now achieving at Kendal Town when he had excellent offers from elsewhere gives us all a further big lift."
