Monday's First Division North action review

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North

New Mills moved into fourth place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table after a 5-1 demolition job on struggling Ossett Albion at Church Lane on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

But the promotion-chasers were given a shock when Alex Booker gave Albion an early fifth minute lead. And the visitors, who earned a decent 1-1 draw at Radcliffe Borough on Saturday, had hopes of achieving at least another point when Michael Fish had his 28th minute penalty saved by Albion keeper Jody Barford, his third in three games for the club.

Fish redeemed himself when he equalised on the half-hour mark but the visitors held on to parity until half-time. Sam Egerton then gave the Millers the lead six minutes after the break with a header from Dave Fitzpatrick's corner.

Chris Luby virtually assured the points stayed at home when he made it 3-1 just past the hour-mark and then Fish added his second and the Millers fourth in the 76th minute. Michael Bowler wrapped things up when he made it nap for the home side with three minutes remaining with a stunning 25 yard effort into top corner of Rhodes' net.
