New Mills moved into fourth place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Monday night after securing a comfortable 4-1 win against Harrogate Railway Athletic at Church Lane, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
The scoreline suggest a regulation victory for the home side but they did extremely well to recover so quickly from Saturday's 7-1 mauling at Prescot Cables.
The Millers took a 20th minute lead when Michael Fish scored, although it looked as though a Harrogate defender had got the final touch. It was 2-0 just four minutes later when Danny Grimshaw netted with a cracker of an effort.
Rail's Paul Beesley reduced the deficit four minutes into the second half but two goals in three minutes midway through the half sealed victory for the Millers. First, Fish grabbed his second with an excellent individual effort in 71st minute and then Rhys Nevins swiftly added the fourth on 74 to effectively kill off any hopes the visitors still harboured of mounting a late comeback.
