Romulus won 3-2 in a dramatic game against Loughborough Dynamo at Coles Lane in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South on Monday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Roms were involved in a hard fought draw at Goole AFC on the opening day while fancied Dynamo were surpringly beaten at home by Rainworth Miners Welfare.

And it was the home side who took the lead in the 21st minute when Lee Smith rose above the Dynamo defence to head home Tom Turton's corner.

The Roms grew in confidence after that but were unable to add to their solitary goal lead. And they were made to pay just two minutes after the restart when Tom Byrne levelled with a strike from outside the area that took a slight deflection to deceive Matt Coton in the home goal.

Dynamo should have taken the lead midway through the second half but Coton pulled off a brilliant save low down to his right to deny Byrne from close range.

Marcus Brown made an impact immediately after coming off the bench. Using his pace and strength to good effect when he broke free on the left, he fired the Roms in front with a low right foot strike in the 71st minute.

As the game seemed to be drifting to a close, Dynamo got the ball forward into the Roms area and the referee awarded a penalty for handball. Rob Norris converted the spot-kick and it seemed the game would end 2-2.

But Roms got over their disappointment in the best possible way in the final minute of the game when Tyrone Amory unleashed a left-foot drive from 30 yards to beat the despairing dive of the Dynamo keeper.
