Ilkeston FC, who drew their opening game in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division on Saturday, sealed a first three-point haul on Monday night against newly-promoted Stamford AFC at the New Manor Ground, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.
The Daniels won a 6-4 thriller at home to Frickley Athletic on the opening day but conceding another three goals just 48 hours later will worry their new boss David Staff.
It was goalless at the break, and in fact it was the visitors who came closest to breaking the deadlock when new signing Ryan Robbins' had an effort cleared off the line by ex-Sheffield United favourite Rob Kozluk.
But the second half started in dramatic fashion, with the Robins scoring twice in a minute. Recent signing Chris Palmer opened the scoring five minutes after the restart with a fine free-kick. Just over a minute later it was 2-0 when a James Reid cross was turned into his own net by Stamford skipper Richard Jones.
And Kevin Wilson's side made the game safe in the 69th minute when Laurie Wilson fired home a tremendous effort from fully 30 yards.
