Roms under new management

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Romulus are under new management following a major shake-up.

After 900-plus games spread over a twenty-year period, Richard Evans stood down as joint manager on Thursday to move upstairs into the boardroom. He's been appointed as Vice-Chairman of the First Division South club to work alongside Chairman Andy Wilson.

Evans has been replaced by former West Bromwich Albion and Bolton Wanderers star Richard Sneekes who's joined current manager David Barnett in a new-look management team.

Dutchman Sneekes started his career with Ajax and went on to play for Volendam, Fortuna Sittard and Swiss side FC Locarno before signing for Bolton in August 1994. West Brom paid £400,000 for the midfielder in 1996 and he later enjoyed short spells with Stockport County, Hull and Danish outfit Herfolge BK before retiring in 2003. Sneekes briefly came out of retirement to play for Hinckley United and then Dudley Town.

Barnett, 46, made over 150 League appearances for the likes of Colchester, Walsall, Birmingham, Port Vale and Lincoln City and has been with the Roms since 2009.

Sneekes and Barnett take Romulus, currently flying high in second spot, to Bedworth United in First Division South on Saturday.
