Premier Division preview: Robins on song as Nantwich come from behind to win

By James Gordon

Ashton United inflicted a heavy 4-0 loss upon new Belper Town boss Steve Kittrick on Saturday.

The Nailers were put to the sword at the Raygar Stadium as goals from Michael Brewster, Matty Regan and Callum Saunders (2) helped the Robins climb to third in the Northern Premier League table.

Matlock Town also netted four goals on Saturday as they came from behind to beat Warrington Rylands 4-2.

Rylands held a first half lead thanks to Callum Dolan’s 31st minute penalty, but the Gladiators turned things around thanks to Kallan Murphy, Reece Kendall, Ioan Evans and Alex Byrne.

Elsewhere, Stafford Rangers moved up to second after edging past Radcliffe 1-0.

Adam Livingstone scored the only goal of the game with a right-footed effort three minutes before half-time.

And in the final game of the round, Nantwich Town came from behind to record just their second league win of the season at Stalybridge Celtic.

Theo Bailey-Jones had put the hosts in-front, but goals either side of half-time from AJ Leitch-Smith and Sean Cooke turned the contest in the Dabbers’ favour, helping them to a 2-1 victory.
