Neil Reynolds’ side came from behind as dramatic late goals from top scorer Regan Linney and midfielder Michael Donohue helped inflict a first league defeat of the season upon the Mariners.
Elsewhere, Radcliffe bounced back from defeat on Saturday as a Matty Crothers brace helped them beat Stalybridge Celtic 2-1 at Stainton Park.
At Cantilever Park, Warrington Town came from two goals down to rescue a point against cross-town rivals Warrington Rylands.
Rylands - who were forced to name midfielder Steve Irwin in goal after on-loan Wigan Athletic 'keeper Sam Tickle was recalled at the eleventh hour - had led 2-0 at the break thanks to a quickfire Callum Dolan double.
Stefan Mols and Kane Drummond exchanged goals after half-time, but Luke Duffy’s deflected effort gave the Yellows hope before James Neild turned substitute Mitch Duggan’s cross into his own net in second half stoppage time to make it 3-3.
In the evening’s other action, Morpeth Town climbed up to sixth in the division, despite drawing 1-1 with Bamber Bridge.
Sam Fishburn gave the Highwaymen the lead midway through the first half, but the Brig responded as Fin Sinclair-Smith rifled home an equaliser 15 minutes from time.
And at Hurst Cross, Ashton United suffered a third straight defeat as Priestley Keithley’s first half effort was enough to see Whitby Town secure their second league victory of the season and climb off the foot of the table.
