Rangers striker commits to push

Stafford Rangers

Striker Danny Quinn has committed his future to Stafford Rangers after reportedly turning down an approach from Evo-Stik Northern Premier League rivals Ilkeston for his services.

Rangers' leading scorer is not on a contract at Marston Road and the Stafforshire Sentinel reported on Friday that he'd chosen to remain to help manager Greg Clowes, pictured, secure a Premier Division play-off spot.

The Rangers manager told the paper's website: "He knows where we want to be and that's in the play-offs. We are in that group of seven, eight or nine clubs that need to put a run together. It's a case of being more consistent.

"Danny is one of three strikers we have at the club and there is a place for them all. They are all different – he is an 18-yard box poacher and you don't get that with Fabrice Kasiama or Karl Ashton."

Stafford's trip to Whitby Town on Saturday was postponed due to the continuing winter weather on Friday and fears of heavy overnight snow. Visit the fixtures page under the 'match info' tab for the latest fixtures updates.
