Reunion for Wembley heroes

Taking place on Saturday 2 April when the First Division South leaders host Gresley FC, the milestone anniversary party will see many of the club's stars from the 1970s reunited.

Remembered as a golden decade, Rangers reached three FA Trophy finals at Wembley, defeating Barnet 3-0 in 1972 before going down 3-2 after extra-time against Scarborough four years later and then triumphing 2-0 over Kettering Town in 1979, pictured.

Officials at the Staffordshire club are now appealing for fans to help them get the word out and track down as many of the club's players from the period as possible as well as those turning out for them in the 1980s.

The event's organiser Sue Bennett said: "Although I have contacts for the 1972 team and others from around the time I would like to reach out to other former players of that period and the early eighties or to people that know of former players who could be informed."
