Ross Durrant strengthens Blues

Long Eaton United have announced the signing of experienced goalkeeper Ross Durrant.

Durrant is a fantastic shot-stopper who drew plenty of admirers during his title-winning season with Ilkeston Town.

The 27-year-old will be a valuable asset to Ian Deakin’s squad, with the experience of Nottingham Forest U21s, Ilkeston, Mickleover, Boston United, NF United, Alfreton Town, Matlock Town and Belper Town all behind him.

On his arrival, the Blues boss said: “Well, for a keeper of that calibre - he has obviously won this league with Ilkeston [Town], he was at Nottingham Forest as a youngster and he has got real pedigree - it was a no brainer really.

“He offers some competition in that place, and I think that’s the position that you look at and wonder who is going to play that position all year.

"It’s a key time now as we move closer to the end of the season, where injuries could happen.

“Just in general, I think that Ross has got real experience, good leadership skills and is just a brilliant goalkeeper."
