Mossley AFC blew the chance to move into second place in the EVO-STIK League's First Division North table on Saturday when they were hammered 4-0 on their own Seel Park patch by Kendal Town, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Kieron Pickup gave the Cumbrians an early eight minute lead and Mossley's chances of getting back into the game nose-dived when they had Mitchell Bryant sent-off for a second yellow card. The Mintcakes – in new boss Michael Stringfellow`s first game in permanent charge – finally made their extra man tell when they doubled their lead through Craig Carney in the 68th minute and then Carney and Mark Jackson from the spot added further goals as Mossley tired.

Darlington 1883 moved into fifth spot after a 2-0 success at Ingfield against Ossett Town.

Amar Purewal gave the Quakers the lead on the half-hour mark and just two minutes later, the majority in the crowd of 360 celebrated as Graeme Armstrong doubled the visitors` advantage.

Brighouse Town hammered second-bottom and still win-less Prescot Cables 6-3 at home, with Ryan Hall bagging a brace.

It was only 2-1 at half-time after goals from Shaquille Clarke-Adams and Tom Matthews for the hosts and Sam Corlett for Cables. But Hall`s brace and efforts from Ernest Boafo and Dan Naidole completed Brighouse`s six, with Corlett again and Matt West adding late replies.

A Daniel Brady own goal gave Northwich Victoria an 18th minute lead at Clitheroe. But the home side fought back to win, courtesy of goals from David Lynch on 35 minutes, Zach Clark immediately after the break and Dan Wilkins on the hour-mark.

Burscough won 3-1 at bottom-markers Padiham, taking a 25th minute lead through a Paul Williams penalty. Anthony Brown on 46 minutes and Jordan Williams on 58 had the Linnets 3-0 up, before former Premier League striker Brett Ormerod netted a 74th minute spot-kick reply on his Storks` debut.

Third-bottom Ossett Albion fell behind to an 18th minute Jack Hindle effort at Stainton Park against Radcliffe Borough. But David Brown gave them a 54th minute equaliser to take back across the Pennines.
