Darlington 1883 took advantage of Salford City's dropped points at Farsley AFC to take over leadership of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Quakers returned from Valerie Park with all three points against Prescot Cables, courtesy of an eighth minute Leon Scott effort and then Alan White`s goal after 64 minutes.

Third-placed Farsley held long-time leaders Salford to a 1-1 draw at Throstle Nest, where Rob O`Brien gave the hosts a great start with the opener inside seven minutes.

The Ammies though managed to maintain their unbeaten start when Gareth Seddon popped up with a leveller less than two minutes from time.

Fourth-placed Droylsden suffered a 4-2 defeat at Tameside neighbours Mossley AFC.

Michael Fish gave the Lilywhites a 13th minute lead that Ollie Devenney doubled just five minutes later. Fish scored his second from the penalty spot with only 26 minutes gone on the clock. Ben Deegan managed to reduce the deficit just past the hour-mark, only for Matt Purcell to restore Mossley`s three-goal cushion seven minutes later, rendering Deegan's second near the end as just a consolation.

Scarborough Athletic moved into the top five after beating Ossett Town 2-0 at Queensgate.

Ryan Blott put Boro in front after 36 minutes but it wasn't until stoppage time at the end of the game that Gary Bradshaw made sure of victory with a second.

Northwich Victoria moved level on points with sixth-placed Spennymoor Town after a 2-0 win at bottom-markers Padiham, courtesy of a first-minute Gary Burnett effort and a second from Aboubacar Sanogo on 32 minutes.

Elsewhere, two goals in injury-time from Tyrome Gay and James Hurtley saw Brighouse Town edge a seven-goal thriller at home against New Mills, whose Danny Douglas-Pringle bagged a brace.

It was the same scoreline in Cumbria between Kendal Town and Harrogate Railway, who were holding their hosts to a 2-2 draw with nine minutes to go when Rob Wilson and then Isaac Kusaloka gave the Mintcakes a 4-2 lead that Michael Morris reduced in injury-time.

Conor McDonagh's 76th minute goal earned Ossett Albion the verdict at Burscough, while Clitheroe took a 30th minute lead at home to Radcliffe Borough, thanks to a Dave Sherlock own goal before Danny Laferty equalised just past the hour-mark.
