Saturday's First North action review

By David Watters

Farsley Celtic extended their lead at the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's Division One North on Saturday despite only drawing 2-2 at Colwyn Bay after Lancaster City lost at Droylsden, writes Pitchero's Ryan Allen.

Adam Clayton got both goals for the Yorkshire side and they looked to be on their way to securing the three points before Daniel Andrews and Jamie Rainford ensured the scores ended level.

Lancaster missed their chance to take advantage after they conceded late on with Dylan Smith poking home. It means there are two points between the teams, with Celtic also having a better goal difference.

In the race for the play-offs, Ossett Town rose to third thanks to a 3-1 win against Prescott Cables, Danny Frost sealing the victory with an added time strike.

Glossop North End inflicted Colne’s first defeat since February with Ben Richardson scoring a late winner with ten minutes to go.

Scarborough Athletic made it six wins in a row after beating Bamber Bridge 3-0. The Seadogs are now a point off the play-off places while Clitheroe are a place behind Athletic after beating Ossett Albion 2-0.

Brighouse Town are now unbeaten in 11 games and the still have a chance of breaking into the top five after defeating Radcliffe Borough 3-0.

Elsewhere Kendal Town defeated Mossley 3-0, Matt Poole and a double from Matthew Dudley helping the hosts to all three points while Hyde United’s Matthew Beadle scored twice in a 2-1 victory away at Tadcaster Albion.

Goole kept alive their chances of staying up after beating Ramsbottom United 4-2 at home.

Despite the win, Dave Taylor and Derry Robson’s team know they must win all their remaining games and hope results elsewhere go their way if they are to remain in the division next season.
