Leek Town remain five points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's First Division South table after a 5-0 hammering of third-bottom Eastwood Town at Harrison Park on Saturday, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

It was virtually all over by half-time as Leek were leading 3-0 with a brace from Jordan Johnson in the 13th and 15th minutes and one from Andy Kinsey on 22 minutes. But on 56 minutes Johnson was sent-off for two controversial yellow cards – the first for diving, the second for kicking the ball away. However, it mattered little to the overall proceedings and Mitch Husbands bagged a brace in the final 15 minutes to make it a nap hand for Lee Casswell's leaders.

Second-placed Coalville Town won 2-1 at Owen Street against Linsoln United.

Sean Cann gave the visitors a 22nd minute lead that Callum Woodward equalised four minutes later and Antony Carney scored what proved to be the Ravens' winner just before the break.

Belper Town are third and enjoyed a 6-2 battering of bottom-markers Bedworth United at Christchurch Meadow.

The visitors gave a debut to Spanish keeper Llobell Allazar but he could do little to prevent the home side sweeping to an emphatic win. Belper went ahead in the ninth minute when Mark Ward found space to cross and Jon Froggatt fired in. Ward was again the provider after 21 minutes with Froggatt hitting a shot high into the net for his second.

Belper extended their lead on 35 minutes when Warne put Simon Harrison clear to score. Harrison then turned provider three minutes after the break, crossing deep for an unmarked Froggatt nod in for his hat-trick. It was 5-0 within a minute, when Ward scrambled the ball in from inside the six-yard box. Froggatt got his fourth before Tristram Whitman pulled one back on 68 minutes and late sub Dave Blenkinsopp pulled another back right at the death but it was far too little and too late to alter outcome.

Halesowen Town and Carlton Town complete the top five but both lost on Saturday.

The Yeltz were beaten 3-1 at Queensgate by Scarborough Athletic, who came back from being a 39th minute Iyseden Christie penalty behind to win, thanks to Peter Davidson on 73 minutes, player-coach Bryan Hughes six minutes later and veteran striker Gary Bradshaw eight minutes from time – also from the spot.

Carlton went down to a 2-1 defeat at The Scholars by Chasetown, for whom Paul Sullivan gave them a 12th minute lead. Craig Bannister eventually added to the tally 15 minutes from time, although Joe Brothwell's 85th minute reply made it a nervy finale.

Sutton Coldfield Town made up ground in sixth after easing past Goole AFC 4-0 at Coles Lane.

Gary Hay after six minutes and Stuart McNaught on 31, gave the Royals a two-goal lead they eventually added to in the final three minutes from Nathan Thompson and on loan Charlie Anagho-Ntamark.

Rainworth Miners Welfare are level on points with Sutton Coldfield and one adrift of the play-off zone after a 2-1 home win against second-bottom Kidsgrove Athletic. Ashley Longstaff gave the Wrens a 19th minute lead that Jamie Clarke doubled 11 minutes into the second half, with Aiden Matranga netting a late consolation for Grove.

A goal three minutes from the end extended Brigg Town's wretched run of form at home as visitors Newcastle Town won 2-1 at the Hawthorns.

The Zebras began brightly and took the lead after 18 minutes through George Zuerner. But the visitors came back strongly though and scored twice in the second half, the first after 53 minutes by Tim Sanders from the penalty spot before the late winner, scored by Dan Skelton.

Sheffield FC held off a comeback from Mickleover Sports to record a 4-3 away win.

Karl Demidh gave the home side a 10th minute lead, but then Zeph Thomas bagged a brace in the 12th and 25th minutes – the second from the spot – with Andy Gascoigne on 55 minutes and Joel Purkiss on 76 minutes making it surely game over. But Ashley Grayson and Demidh again replied in the final couple of minutes to make the visitors a little nervy.

Gresley FC won 2-1 at The Moat against Romulus, coming back from being a 40th minute Craig Marshall goal behind to win, courtesy of Jack Langston on 69 minutes and Michael Lyon two minutes later.

Market Drayton Town's improvement under Greg Clowes continues after a 4-1 away win at Loughborough Dynamo. The visitors raced into a second minute lead and after Nathan Watson equalised 20 minutes later, Yannick Makota, Stevenson again and Delroy Fox made sure of a good away win for the Shropshire outfit
