Skelmersdale United are looking forward to seeing a host of new fans help them celebrate reclaiming top spot in the EVO-STIK League’s top flight.

Tommy Lawson’s side went back to the top of the Premier Division table last weekend with a 2-1 victory at Buxton and on Saturday the club is running a special deal for supporters when they host Frickley Athletic.

Skem officials announced on Tuesday that instead of paying full price at the turnstiles at the West Lancashire College Stadium, pictured, season ticket holders from other clubs will be admitted to the fixture for a fiver.

With this weekend’s international break ruling out fixtures for local giants like Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere Rovers, Skem are looking forward to running the popular discount offer normally only seen on Non-League Day and hoping it will attract a host of new fans.

Skelmersdale United chairman Chris Lloyd said: "Since I got involved at Skelmersdale I have seen the style of football Skelmersdale play and it is a quality product. It really is a traditional football experience.

"You can park by the ground, you don’t have to order tickets weeks beforehand, you can enjoy a pint before the match, choose your own seat on the day and food is reasonably priced although you can have your lunch before you leave the house and be home in time for tea!"

He added: "Most of all, Skelmersdale is a football town and we want all the people to have pride in the town team. That is why we are inviting people to come and sample the Skelmersdale United experience."
