Stadium makeover getting underway

EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Tividale are aiming to make progress on a number of planned stadium improvements before the end of the current campaign.

Dale officials confirmed on Friday that they'd be adding 190 seats to the New Birmingham Road side of The Beeches and a new standing area to their Birch Terrace in time for the start of next season.

Work has already begun on the playing surface in a bid to improve drainage following two recent postponements and general manager Leon Murray hailed the news as another step forward for the First Division South club.

And Tivi’s club secretary has thanked the London Olympic Stadium for their part in making the new seats available to the club following the 2012 games.

Murray said: "When it became apparent that yellow seats would be available following the 2012 Games, we made immediate contact with them.

"I would like to place on record my thanks to the staff at the Olympic Stadium for their co-operation and these seats are a massive step in the right direction for us as we aim to improve our facilities.

"Dale are hopeful of starting work on the Birch Terrace side of the ground within the next fortnight, meaning spectators will then be able to view matches from three sides of the ground on matchdays when the work is completed."

He added: "It will be fantastic if we can get this work done, that’s for certain. An awful lot of hard work has gone in to try and get these plans moving and I’m sure that will continue. We want to have the best facilities we can physically provide."
