Tuesday night's Premier Division action review

Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division

Only one of the scheduled three matches in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division went ahead on Tuesday night, but it was a significant one, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Hednesford Town moved to within six points of leaders North Ferriby United with two games in hand after beating Ilkeston FC 2-0 at Keys Park.

The Robins came into the game in good spirits, however, having beaten fellow strugglers Whitby Town 3-1 last Saturday. And they held the high-flying Pitmen until a minute into the second half when the hosts broke the deadlock in fortuitous circumstances - the wind helping a cross from Elliott Durrell to float over visiting keeper Chris Martin and into the net.

Hednesford's second goal to ease any nerves among manager Rob Smith's side finally arrived six minutes from time, Durrell converting a penalty to secure the vital win.
