Salford City's lead at the top of the EVO-STIK League's First Division North table was cut to just one point on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Ammies were without a game, allowing Darlington 1883 to close the gap after a 3-1 win at Brighouse Town.

Barrie Frankland gave Town an early second minute lead that Amar Purewal cancelled out in the eighth minute. Jordan Robinson gave the visitors a 34th minute lead and Purewal`s second nine minutes later eventually proved enough.

Farsley AFC are third a further two points behind after a 2-0 Throstle Nest victory over New Mills.

Lewis Nightingale`s 14th minute penalty and Rob O`Brien`s goal four minutes before half-time were the home scorers.

Spennymoor Town moved into fifth spot, leap-frogging their Tuesday night victims Scarborough Athletic after an emphatic 4-1 win.

It was all-square at the break with Liam Henderson for Town and Gray Bradshaw for Boro. But Michael Roberts, Henderson again and Andy Stephenson added to Moors` tally to complete a comfortable win.

Harrogate Railway Athletic edged the Yorkshire derby at Dimple Wells against Ossett Albion by the odd goal in five.

Albion led 2-0 at half-time, thanks to Adam Muller and Conor McDonagh, but a Nathan Cartman hat-trick in the 63rd, 81st minute from the spot and 86th minute edged it for Rail.

There were six goals shared at Irongate between Bamber Bridge and Lancaster City.

Paul McKenna and Matty Kay for Brig and Aaron Taylor and Jacob Davis for City looked as though they had shared a 2-2 draw until Chris Marlow popped up with a third for Brig in stoppage time. But a 20-yard thunderbolt from Ryan Winder seconds later restored parity for the Dolly Blues.

The points were also shared at Cantilever Park where Warrington Town led Burscough through Scott Metcalfe`s 23rd minute goal until three minutes from time when boss Mark Beesley showed how it`s done with the Linnets` leveller.
