Scott Duxbury gave the Vics the boost of an early third minute lead that Josh Amis added to after 23 minutes. Amis notched his second and Vics` third just past the hour-mark, with Iain Howard adding a fourth seven minutes later.
Burscough handed overnight leaders Warrington Town their second league defeat of the season and in doing so completed a double over Shaun Reid’s men.
All the goals came in the second half as the Linnets ended Town’s eleven-game unbeaten run as they followed up their 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.
Former Warrington striker Will Jones scored a brace in the 47th and 82nd minutes, either side of a wonderful goal by midfielder Eddie Toner in the 53rd minute – Dan O`Donnell having pulled one back on the hour-mark.
Third-placed Glossop North End suffered a first league defeat of the campaign to date at the Butcher`s Arms against a Droylsden side who started the evening second-from-bottom.
Domaine Rouse put the Bloods in front after 14 minutes, only for top scorer Jamie Rainford to equalise within five minutes. But Dominic Smith`s goal on 39 minutes eventually proved enough to end the newcomers` unbeaten start to life in the NPL.
Spennymoor Town consolidated fourth spot with a comprehensive 5-0 home hammering of Ossett Town.
Glen Taylor gave Moors the boost of an early third minute opener and Scott Kerr doubled that six minutes before the break. Shane Henry added a third on 58 minutes and he made it 4-0 with 15 minutes to go, leaving Gavin Cogdon to make it a nap hand with four minutes remaining.
Clitheroe moved up to sixth after a 2-1 win at the Giant Axe against Lancaster City.
The visiting Blues found themselves two-up with goals from Scott Bakkor after 17 minutes and Dan Brady nine minutes later. Zack Clark reduced the arrears five minutes later but that proved to be the final goal of the contest.
Clitheroe slipped above Trafford, who suffered a 4-1 defeat at Valerie Park against Prescot Cables.
And they got off to a good start too when Jack Dorney put them in front inside the opening two minutes. Rob Doran levelled eight minutes before half-time and four minutes after the break Cables went in front, courtesy of Doran`s penalty.
Phil Bannister stretched the hosts` lead on 75 minutes, with Lloyd Dean making sure with a fourth five minutes from time.
Mossley AFC moved level on points with Trafford after a comfortable 4-0 Seel Park victory against Witton Albion in new manager Carl Macauley`s first game in charge.
Macauley had a watching brief and couldn`t exactly have enjoyed what he saw as Dave Short bagged a first half brace for the Lilywhites in the 11th and 45th minutes. Sam Robinson made it virtually game over seven minutes after the restart and Michael Thomas added a fourth on 67 minutes.
Scarborough Athletic at least halted a run of four successive defeats with a 2-2 Queensgate draw against Harrogate Railway.
It didn't start well for Boro though as Tom Owen gave the visitors` a fifth minute lead. Fernando Moke equalised nine minutes later and four minutes on Ryan Qualter gave the home side the lead. They held that lead until 10 minutes into the second half when Fatlum Ibrahimi equalised.
Dan Wilkins put Kendal Town ahead at Parkside after just five minutes against Bamber Bridge. But Joe Booth levelled 13 minutes later and a Ben Thomas own goal in the 63rd minute eventually proved to be Brig`s winner.
Ossett Albion secured a win and three points against bottom side and still win-less New Mills in a poor game at Dimple Wells.
Connor Brunt scored Albion's first after 16 minutes and Rob Bordman got the second in the 70th minute with a well taken free-kick.
