Tuesday's First Division North review

By David Watters

Farsley Celtic are the only team to manage to wins from the opening two matches of the new EVO-STIK Northern Premier League First Division North season, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Celtic inflicted a second successive defeat on Goole AFC at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds, easing to a 3-0 victory, thanks to James Walshaw after eight and 56 minutes and Aiden Savory on 20 minutes.

Radcliffe Borough have also lost both their opening matches after going down to a best-of-seven defeat at Stainton Park against Mossley AFC, for whom this was a first win.

But the Lilywhites had to come back from being 2-0 down inside 34 minutes through Raul Correia and Elliot Rokka. Kyle McGonigle pulled one back from the penalty spot right on half-time, only for Rokka to restore Boro`s two-goal lead just shy of the hour-mark.

But an Andy Keogh brace and one from Michael Fish all in the final two minutes of the game turned the game in Mossley`s favour.

Newly-promoted pair Tadcaster Albion, Colne, along with Ossett Town, Kendal Town, Colwyn Bay and Clitheroe, all joined Mossley in enjoying opening wins on Tuesday night.

Taddy beat neighbours Ossett Albion 3-0 at home with goals from Tom Corner after 15 and 51 minutes, sandwiched by a 27th minute Jimmy Beadle effort.

Colne beat Lancashire rivals Bamber Bridge 2-1 at Irongate with a Ben Wharton brace in the 22nd and 46th minutes – Sam Livesey having equalised in the 31st minute.

Ossett Town won 4-1 at Ingfield against Brighouse Town, moving four-up through Alex Peterson on 25 and 36 minutes, Tyrone Gay in between on 28 minutes and Devonte Morton on 61 minutes. The visitors pulled two back through Tom Haigh on 66 minutes and Luke Parkin on 89 minutes.

Kendal beat relegated Ramsbottom United 2-1 at Parkside, taking the lead through Sam Bailey on the half-hour mark and then, after Gareth Seddon had equalised from the spot right on half-time, grabbing the winner from Oli Wood on 58 minutes.

Colwyn Bay were 3-1 winners at Llanellian Road against the team who came down from the Premier Division with them, Hyde United.

Danny Andrews gave Bay the lead on the half-hour mark and, after James Cadman had levelled two minutes after the break, a Chris Gahgan double on 62 and 89 minutes saw Bay home.

Clitheroe beat Scarborough Athletic 3-0 at Shawbridge, Kurt Willoughby bagging a brace for the Blues in the 43rd and 76th minutes with a Joe Lamplough own goal on 74 minutes completing Boro`s woes.

Burscough and Lancaster City picked up their first points of the season after they shared a goalless draw, while Droylsden and Prescot Cables shared a 2-2 draw at the Butcher`s Arms.

Lloyd Dean`s brace for Cables on 21 and 76 minutes but they were equalled by Steve Lewis on 36 minutes and Aaron Walters on 40 minutes for the Bloods.
