Tuesday's First Division North review

By David Watters

Bamber Bridge moved a point clear at the top of the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League's First Division North table after beating Mossley AFC 4-1 at Irongate on Tuesday night, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

Brighouse Town had moved to the summit after their win against Hyde United on Monday night, and it didn`t look good for Brig when Jordan Bove gave the Lilywhites a 34th minute lead.

But Regan Linney equalised four minutes before the break and six minutes after it, Adam Dodd put Brig in front. And they added two more from Sam Livesey after 56 minutes and then Kit Gregory a couple of minutes from time, to seal a comfortable win.

Kendal Town slipped down to fourth after losing 3-1 at Stainton Park to Radcliffe Borough.

Frank Van Gils proved to be Boro`s hero on the night, bagging a brace in the 14th and 48th minutes. Charlie Bailey pulled the Mintcakes back into the game just past the hour-mark but Raul Correia made sure with Boro`s third 14 minutes from time.

Second-bottom Burscough picked up their third point of the season to date after holding Clitheroe to a goalless draw, while Farsley Celtic moved into third spot after a 2-1 win against Scarborough Athletic at Throstle Nest.

A crowd of just over 300 saw Boro lead through Craig Nelthorpe`s goal just before the break until 13 minutes from time when Jacob Hazel – on loan from National League North side Gainsborough Trinity – equalised. And four minutes later, Farsley won it through James Walshaw.

A slightly bigger crowd of 306 saw Glossop North End slip a place to fifth after being held to a 2-2 home draw by Droylsden.

Jamie Rainford gave the Hillmen the lead after 20 minutes, and then Brian Summerskill doubled that in the 36th minute. But the Bloods crucially reduced the deficit right on half-time through Liam Caddick and then earned a point with a 49th minute Steve Lewis effort – his eighth of the season to date.

Trafford earned a third win of the campaign, 3-1 at newcomers Colne FC, whose Jason Hart gave them the lead right on half-time.

Mitch Bryant levelled five minutes into the second half and then Aaron Burns on 75 minutes and Nicky Platt 10 minutes from time, sealed the visitors` win.

Former Salford City favourite Gareth Seddon gave Ramsbottom United an early third minute lead at the Giant Axe against Lancaster City.

Louis Mayers equalised a minute before the break and then a Jordan Connerton brace in the 46th minute and then in stoppage time, sealed the Dolly Blues` turnaround.

Scott Bakkor scored the only goal in the 18th minute to seal Colwyn Bay`s verdict at Valerie Park against Prescot Cables, while Ossett Town doubled their win tally for the season by beating Yorkshire rivals Tadcaster Albion 3-1 at Ingfield.

Ashley Jackson after 28 minutes and Anthony Mackie a minute before the break gave Town a half-time advantage that Jason Mycoe eventually reduced in the 86th minute, only for Alex Peterson to restore Town`s two-goal advantage in injury-time.

Town`s neighbours Ossett Albion earned only their fifth point to date with a 1-1 draw at still-to-win Goole AFC.

Both goals came within two minutes of each other, with Jordan Cooke putting the Vikings ahead after 27 minutes and Darren Thornton replying.
