TV soap star Luke Roskell, known to millions as Emmerdale Farm's 'bad boy' Sean Spencer, is looking forward to backing the Wire's community development programme after agreeing to play in a charity match against his home town club.

The 16-year-old pupil at Warrington's Bridgewater High School is turning out for an Emmerdale Cast and Crew XI against a Warrington Town XI at the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club's Cantilever Park on Sunday May 19. All proceeds from the game will go to the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North outfit's community development programme and the St Rocco's Hospice.

Roskell, who has been in the soap for nearly two years as a member of the 'rowdy' Spencer family and confesses to being an Everton fanatic, joked that he has no qualms about trying to beat his hometown team in aid of two worthy causes when the event was announced on Friday.

The young actor, who says he's 'loving evey minute' of his role on the long running soap and is pictured with the Wire's Community Development Officer James Standing, said: "It would be great to say I have played against Warrington Town and say I'd won!"

Kick off is 3pm with tickets priced at £5 available by via email at:admin@warringtontownfc.co.uk.

The Wire also revealed on Friday that they are gearing up to build on the success of their last record-breaking half-term sports camp over the upcoming Easter holidays. The camp will be the second of nine taking place throughout 2013 providing a healthy and friendly sporting environment for children as young as four years of age to get involved in physical activity.

Organised by the club's Community Development Officer Standing and supported by sponsors United Utilities, February's camp saw record attendances with more than 60 children per day taking part in a range of sporting activities including football, baseball, basketball, cricket and handball, all of which were held at the club's Cantilever Park ground.

Week one runs from Tuesday 2 April to Friday 5 April. Week two runs from Monday 8 April to Friday 12 April with children having the second Wednesday [10 April] off. Prices are set at £30 for the full four days or £9 per day, with sessions taking place on the artificial 3G pitches at Cantilever Park.
