Warrington Town lose key forward

Warrington Town have confirmed the departure of striker Connor Woods.

The 24-year-old has been recalled by parent club Southport, who currently play in the National League North.

During his time at Cantilever Park, Woods scored six times in 12 appearances in all competitions.

He was brought in to ease the Yellows’ injury worries in the final third, with last season’s top scorer Jordan Buckley still working his way back to full fitness following an ankle injury and Mikey Howard ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury.

It leaves the club short on forward options ahead of Saturday’s home game against Stalybridge Celtic.

Captain Josh Amis is currently serving a three-match ban, while Isaac Buckley-Ricketts has yet to start since the end of September, having recently overcome appendicitis.
