Woolfe: Pitmen were always first choice

Hednesford Town

Midfielder Nathan Woolfe has insisted Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division Hednesford Town were always his first choice after leaving Northwich Victoria.

Northwich’s financial difficulties led to the club being relegated to Evo-Stik NPL First Division South in May and the 23-year-old winger reckons the Pitmen were always his most likely destination after a summer of turmoil over his future and the Vics' own survival.

He said: "Hednesford were always my first choice. I played against the club last season and saw what a well-run unit they are."

Woolfe, who's netted six goals in a dozen outings to help the club to third in the league and is currently joint top goalscorer with Elliott Durell, believes his switch to Keys Park can get even better, especially with Hednesford still involved in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

He added: "Six goals in twelve matches is not just a quick burst and I believe my current form can be maintained."
