Clitheroe appoint interim manager until end of season

Former Accrington Stanley assistant manager Jimmy Bell has been appointed Clitheroe manager on an interim basis until the end of the season.

The club have moved quickly to replace Danny Caldecott, who resigned from his position at the club following last Saturday's 4-3 defeat to Hanley Town.

Caldecott signed a long-term deal with the Blues when first joining in October, but he lasted just 26 league games in charge.

He departed with the club 11th in the Pitching In NPL West Division table.

Clitheroe say Bell offered his services as a favour to the club’s directors on a purely interim basis.

He was most recently assistant at Accrington to John Coleman, who was sacked by the League Two side at the beginning of March.

The pair spent 23 years at Accrington over two spells, guiding the reformed club from non-league to the Football League before joining Rochdale in 2012.

They returned to Accrington little more than a year later, with spells at Southport and Sligo Rovers in-between.

Bell's first match in charge will be away at already-relegated 1874 Northwich on Saturday before games at home to Hednesford Town and away to Leek Town before the season's end.
