Clitheroe make double signing

Clitheroe have brought in Stalybridge Celtic forward Domaine Rouse and highly-rated midfielder Ethan Kershaw.

Rouse brings with him a vast amount of experience at non-league level and a real potency in front of goal.

From making his debut appearance for Bury back in 2007, coming on as a substitute, Domaine has gone on to enjoy excellent spells with Droylsden, Colwyn Bay and notably at Ramsbottom United.

He was a real success at Ramsbottom between 2018-2022, and during his time at the club he was known as one of the most dangerous forwards in the division.

Also making the move to Shawbridge is midfielder Kershaw, who has a rich pedigree after being a part of the youth system at Burnley from the age of eight up until the age of 18.

The 22-year-old has impressed at previous clubs Atherton Collieries, and last season at Stalybridge Celtic.

When asked, manager Dave Dempsey couldn't contain his delight at the club's two newest recruits.

He said: "Domaine will be a very, very big character, both on and off the pitch. He'll chip in with a lot of goals, he's aggressive, has bags of pace & strength.

"A lot of the lads have already played with him at other clubs and every one of our players that we speak to say Domaine, Domaine, Domaine - get him in! So he is very well thought-of within the group.

"Ethan is going to offer a lot on the pitch in central areas, he's a really talented footballer, very technical from what we have seen of him.

"I've liked him for a long time. We played against Atherton Collieries in the summer last year when I was at Widnes - he stood out in that game and is a player I have kept my eye on.

"He's got an engine, very technical, gets on the ball, likes to play, likes to create things and will chip in with the odd goal here & there.

"He'll just give us real composure when on the football, which is something we lacked at times last season."

Clitheroe's squad is starting to take shape ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, with confirmation that 15 of last season's squad have agreed to stay.
