One in, one out for Guiseley

Brighouse Town striker Laurence Sorhaindo has joined Guiseley.

The forward, who will turn 26 on June 6, is a product of the Bradford City Academy, having joined them after playing football for Wyke Wanderers in his home City of Bradford.

Sorhaindo joined City aged 13, and on leaving his first dalliance with men’s football came with Bradford side Campion.

He impressed Silsden manager Danny Forrest, who took him to Cobbeydale. There, he scored 12 goals in 22 games before sustaining ankle ligament damage.

The striker recovered, and having caught the eye of the Brighouse Town management, he moved there in 2020, only to have his progress halted by the Covid 19 pandemic.

His form at Brighouse lead him to become one of the best strikers in the Pitching In NPL East Division. During the 2021/22 season, he struck 23 goals for Brighouse, putting him second only to former Guiseley hit man Adam Boyes, who scored five more than that for Marske United as they were promoted to the Northern Premier League.

“I was attracted by the size of the club, the excellent playing surface and the infrastructure," Sorhaindo said.

"Everyone has heard of Guiseley AFC and I am looking forward to playing for them. They have a good fan base and I am looking forward to helping to get Guiseley back to where they belong.”

Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed the departure of goalkeeper Cam Mason.

Mason initially featured for the Lions on loan from Southport before completing a permanent move to the club in January.

A wrist injury ruled him out for the final few weeks of the season, but he has now decided to leave Nethermoor in order to join National League North side Curzon Ashton for an undisclosed fee.

A club statement read: "Signed in January on an 18-month contract, Cam was very much a part of our plans for the upcoming season.

"However, having received offers from several clubs, the player indicated a wish to move to Curzon Ashton and the best deal possible was agreed for his departure."
